KPC Members’ Children Visit SMIU for Educational Study Tour

SMIU hosts Karachi Press Club children, highlighting heritage, AI education, and academic awareness during an educational campus visit.

KARACHI: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) hosted a study visit of children of Karachi Press Club (KPC) members on Thursday, organizing an interactive educational program aimed at promoting academic awareness, heritage, and modern learning.

A ceremony was held at the university auditorium where Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto welcomed the visiting students and appreciated the Karachi Press Club. He said it is the responsibility of parents to educate younger generations about history and cultural heritage.

He noted that the visit connected students with SMIU, the alma mater of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and highlighted its historical significance. He added that SMIU, established by Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi, continues to promote modern education for new generations.

Referring to artificial intelligence, Dr. Halepoto said AI is an important reality of the modern era but stressed that it should not replace human thinking and judgment.

Secretary of the KPC Library Committee, Razzaq Abro, said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Press Club to expose members’ children to historical and educational institutions. He thanked SMIU for its arrangements.

Chairperson of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro, delivered a presentation on artificial intelligence, discussing both its advantages and limitations. He emphasized that human intelligence will continue to play a central role alongside AI.

Director Students Affairs and Counselling, Ms. Zonaira Jalali, briefed the delegation on the university’s academic departments, facilities, and historical role. She encouraged students to consider SMIU for future studies.

The delegation also watched a documentary about the university and visited the Jinnah Museum, where they were briefed on historical artifacts related to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi. They also visited the university TV studio and media training center.

Senior journalists and university officials attended the event, including faculty members and administrative heads, making the visit an interactive educational experience for the students.
