Karachi: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Karachi marked the joyous occasion of Eid-al-Fitr, falling on 1 Syawal 1446 H, by organizing a special gathering for the Indonesian Community. Approximately 250 participants, including Indonesian citizens, students, and several foreign nationals married to Indonesians, attended the event which featured Eid prayers followed by a traditional Halal Bihalal celebration.
The Eid prayer was held on the consulate grounds, led by an Indonesian student from Jamia Binoria who served as both imam and khatib. The sermon carried the theme “Strengthening the Bonds of Brotherhood and National Unity,” encouraging attendees to reflect on the importance of solidarity and harmony, especially while living abroad.
Following the prayer, the Halal Bihalal gathering offered a warm platform for the Indonesian community in Karachi to reconnect, share personal experiences, and foster mutual understanding. It also provided a moment of reflection and forgiveness in the spirit of Eid.
An array of traditional Indonesian dishes—including ketupat, rendang, assorted stir-fried vegetables, kerupuk (crackers), and various festive cookies—were served, all prepared collaboratively by the event committee and local Indonesian residents. The culinary spread not only evoked a sense of home but also served to promote Indonesian cuisine and Islamic cultural heritage to the broader community in Pakistan.
The celebration highlighted the spirit of unity, cultural pride, and the enduring connection between Indonesians abroad and their homeland.
