Karachi development projects reviewed in high-level meeting

A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah regarding the ongoing mega development projects in the city. Senior officials from relevant departments attended the meeting. The progress of ongoing schemes, challenges faced, and the future course of action were discussed in detail.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary Local Government, along with Brigadier Adnan, Fayaz Ahmed, Abdul Ghani Sheikh, Junaid Ahmed, and Tanveer Ahmed Khan representing EA Consultants, as well as a large number of other concerned officials.

During the meeting, seven major development schemes were reviewed in detail, and an effective strategy was devised to ensure their timely completion. The Minister directed that all projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframe so that relief can be provided to citizens as soon as possible.

He stated that the completion of these projects would significantly improve traffic flow in Karachi, saving citizens valuable time and reducing fuel costs.

The Minister emphasized that no compromise would be made on quality and transparency in all development projects, and that work is being carried out in accordance with international standards. Matters related to the construction of flyovers and underpasses were also discussed in detail, and it was decided that more bridges and underpasses would be constructed on busy roads to provide a sustainable solution to long-standing traffic issues.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah stated that the extensive experience of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) is being fully utilized in mega projects, and the role of the armed forces in the city’s development is highly commendable. He stressed that all projects are being carried out with mutual cooperation and effective coordination among utility agencies, and that closer coordination with federal institutions is essential for further improvement.

The Minister said that issues faced with federal institutions would be taken up with the Chief Minister Sindh, and consultation at all levels would be ensured to promptly resolve any obstacles.

It was agreed in the meeting that all encroachments hindering development projects would be removed immediately so that work is not delayed and projects can be completed on time.

According to experts, the timely completion of these mega projects will significantly improve Karachi’s infrastructure and play an important role in making urban life more convenient.
