Karachi Attack: Rangers Repel Assault on Camp, Three Militants Killed

Karachi Attack: Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) repelled an attack on one of its camps in Karachi, killing three suspected militants and arresting another in an injured condition, according to the military’s media wing.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the assault took place on 27 June, when militants belonging to the banned group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which the statement described as an Indian proxy, targeted the Rangers camp.

According to the ISPR, the attackers detonated explosives at the camp’s main gate before attempting to breach the security perimeter. Rangers personnel responded immediately, preventing the attackers from achieving their objective.

The military said security forces killed three suspected militants during the exchange of fire and arrested a fourth attacker, who was injured. It identified the detained suspect as an Afghan national.

The ISPR said three Rangers personnel were killed in the gun battle, while four others sustained injuries.

The statement added that clearance operations were continuing in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining militants linked to the attack.

According to the military, Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to the counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy and will continue efforts to counter what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism.

The ISPR also said those responsible for the attack would be pursued and held accountable.
