Japan Consulate Hosts Emperor’s Birthday Reception in Karachi

Consul General highlighted Japan’s significant

role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development

Karachi: The Consul General of Japan in Karachi, HATTORI Masaru, hosted the “Emperor’s Birthday Reception” on February 26 to celebrate the 65th birthday of His Majesty, Emperor Naruhito. The event, held as Japan’s National Day Celebration, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who was the Chief Guest, and Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Guest of Honor. Other distinguished attendees included Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Fahd Haroon, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, diplomats, politicians, and leading figures from various sectors.

Strengthening Pakistan-Japan Bilateral Ties

In his welcome address, Consul General HATTORI Masaru expressed his delight in hosting his second national day reception in Karachi. He underscored the longstanding and friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation. He emphasized ongoing efforts to collaborate with local, provincial, and federal governments to foster mutual development and prosperity.

Japan’s Contributions to Pakistan’s Development

Mr. HATTORI highlighted Japan’s significant role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly in disaster prevention, healthcare, and education. He referenced recent educational projects in rural Sindh, showcasing Japan’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and improving living standards in the region.

Cultural Exchange and Friendship

The evening concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting and a dinner featuring a fusion of Japanese and Pakistani cuisines, symbolizing the strong cultural ties and enduring friendship between the two nations.
