Karachi: The Consulate of Italy in Karachi hosted an iftar dinner in Karachi to mark the holy month of Ramadan, bringing together government officials, diplomats and members of the local community to promote interfaith harmony and cultural understanding.

The event was hosted by the Consul of Italy in Karachi, Fabrizio Bielli, who welcomed distinguished guests and highlighted the spiritual significance of Ramadan.

Senior Dignitaries in Attendance

The gathering was attended by Kamran Khan Tessori, Governor of Sindh, along with other prominent figures including Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh; Faryal Talpur, President of the Pakistan Peoples Party Women Wing; Rear Admiral Salman Ilyas, Managing Director of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works; and Commander Nasir Mehmood.

Diplomatic representatives and members of the Italian community in Karachi were also present.

Consul Highlights Spirit of Ramadan

In his address, Consul Bielli expressed pride in celebrating Ramadan in Pakistan and underscored the values of sacrifice, humility and generosity associated with the holy month.

He shared that he and his wife had chosen to observe fasting in solidarity with their Pakistani friends, describing fasting as both a physical and spiritual journey that strengthens discipline and nurtures compassion.

“The physical challenges of abstaining from food and drink enable the soul to attain spiritual growth,” he said, adding that Ramadan serves as a reminder to advocate goodness, humility and generosity.

Message of Peace and Shared Celebrations

The consul noted that this year Ramadan coincides with other major cultural and religious occasions, including Nowruz, Holi, the Chinese New Year and Easter, calling it a period symbolic of global diversity and shared humanity.

He expressed hope that the season would bring health, prosperity and happiness to people around the world, while encouraging collective efforts to promote peace, tolerance and interfaith dialogue.

The evening concluded with prayers and an iftar meal shared among guests, reflecting the spirit of unity and goodwill between Italy and Pakistan.
