Indonesia Strengthens Economic Ties with Pakistan Through KATI Engagement

Karachi: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi is actively deepening Indonesia-Pakistan economic relations by engaging with Pakistan’s key business and industrial stakeholders.
H.E. Mr. Mudzakir, Consul General of Indonesia in Karachi, met with the leadership of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) at its Karachi headquarters on 11 February 2026. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for enhanced trade, investment, and industrial collaboration between the two countries.
Mr. Mudzakir was welcomed by Mr. Muhammad Ikram Rajput, President of KATI, along with senior office-bearers and former President Mr. Junaid Naqi. KATI represents over 5,000 enterprises in the Korangi Industrial Area, one of Pakistan’s largest hubs for manufacturing and exports.
Both sides highlighted the longstanding friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan and reiterated their commitment to deepening economic ties. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation beyond traditional trade into joint ventures and investment partnerships in sectors such as:

Consul General Mudzakir emphasized Indonesia’s role in facilitating business connectivity and promoting two-way trade and investment. He described the consulate as a bridge for collaboration between Indonesian and Pakistani business communities, building on recent high-level exchanges, including the State Visit of the President of Indonesia to Pakistan and the visit of Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Trade to Karachi.
The engagement underscores Indonesia’s commitment to translating its strong diplomatic relationship with Pakistan into a forward-looking economic partnership delivering concrete benefits for both nations.
