Independence Day Pakistan Gears Up for August 14 Celebrations

Independence Day preparations are in full swing across Pakistan, with just one day remaining until August 14 celebrations begin.

Government buildings, including Parliament House in Islamabad, have been decorated with colourful lights. National flags now fly from rooftops and public buildings across the country.

Markets and bazaars have also taken on a festive look. Vendors are displaying flags, buntings, badges, caps, masks and other Independence Day decorations.

Green-and-White Merchandise in Demand

Shopping activity has increased as citizens prepare for the celebrations.

Children are particularly attracted to stalls selling green-and-white merchandise. Many families are buying flags for their cars and motorcycles, while others are decorating their homes.

Green-and-white dresses, bangles, jewellery and shirts featuring the crescent and star have also become popular among children.

Young shoppers said they were looking forward to celebrating August 14 with friends while wearing traditional green-and-white outfits.

Parents Encourage Patriotism

Parents said they were taking their children shopping while also explaining the importance of Independence Day.

They said such activities help younger generations understand the significance of Pakistan’s independence and develop a sense of patriotism.

Meanwhile, temporary stallholders reported brisk business as demand for flags, decorations and other patriotic merchandise continued to rise.

With preparations nearing completion, cities across Pakistan are set to mark August 14 with national flags, festive decorations and patriotic celebrations.
