Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted significant legal relief to controversial YouTuber Rajab Butt, directing authorities to immediately remove his name from the Passport Control List (PCL).
Justice Azam Khan issued a six-page written judgment after announcing the reserved verdict. The court held that keeping Rajab Butt’s name on the PCL was “illegal, unnecessary, and in violation of his fundamental rights.”
During the hearing, Rajab Butt was represented by Barrister Zahid Khokhar, who appeared before the court on his behalf. The proceedings revealed that Rajab Butt’s name had been placed on the PCL on the request of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
However, the Deputy Attorney General informed the court that NCCIA officials had no objection to the removal of Rajab Butt’s name from the list.
In its ruling, the court observed that since the petitioner had already appeared before the relevant authorities, there was no further legal justification for keeping his name on the travel restriction list.
Accepting the petition, the Islamabad High Court ordered the concerned authorities to immediately delete Rajab Butt’s name from the Passport Control List, effectively restoring his travel clearance rights.
