Hyderabad Theatre Festival Wins Praise with ‘Chiragh Jal Utha’

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Theatre Festival, organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi in collaboration with the Sindh Culture Department, continued its seventh day with a well-received performance of the play Chiragh Jal Utha at the Sindh Museum’s Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium.

Written by Imran Mughal and directed by Akram Naveed, the family drama drew strong applause from theatre enthusiasts. The cast, including Rizwan Mirza, Irfan Butt, Kamran Khan, Anwar Lahori, Khalid Imran, Nasir Khan Buneri, Shiraz Memon, Tariq Akash, Sidra Sheikh, Sehr Parveen, Shabbir Murad, and senior actor Rafiq Ehsani, delivered performances that left a lasting impression on the audience.

Viewers praised Naveed’s direction for its smooth dialogue delivery, well-structured scenes, and emphasis on the actors’ abilities. A standout moment was the vibrant depiction of Marka-e-Haq, which added energy and excitement to the performance.

Spectators described the play as a fusion of culture and tradition, saying such dramas not only entertain but also strengthen the public’s connection with literature and performing arts.

The Hyderabad Theatre Festival continues daily at the Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium with plays staged in both Urdu and Sindhi. Entry remains free for the public.
