High Commissioner of Malaysia Leads Opening of Tourism Malaysia Pavilion at PTM 2026

KARACHI, 3 April 2026: Tourism Malaysia marked its return to Pakistan Travel Mart 2026 (PTM 2026) with an active and high-level presence on Day 1 at the Karachi Expo Centre, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening tourism cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan. The Malaysia Pavilion was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia in Islamabad, Pakistan, and Mr. Herman Hardynata Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, alongside Mr. Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin, Director, Tourism Malaysia, and Ms. Mohana Murni Shanmugam, Deputy Director, Tourism Malaysia. The participation reflects Tourism Malaysia’s strategic re-engagement with Pakistan’s travel trade and consumers in support of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign and aligns with PTM 2026’s theme, “Shaping the Future of Travel: Innovation, Sustainability & Global Connectivity.”

Tourism Malaysia’s presence at PTM 2026 is strengthened by a delegation of eight Malaysian tourism organisations participating in structured business-to-business engagements with Pakistani travel trade partners. The Malaysia Pavilion highlights key tourism segments including leisure travel, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), and halal-friendly tourism, while promoting curated travel packages and enhanced air connectivity between the two countries. These engagements are aimed at strengthening distribution partnerships, expanding market-ready offerings, and encouraging collaborative promotional initiatives to stimulate outbound travel from Pakistan to Malaysia.

In addition to trade networking activities, Tourism Malaysia is undertaking media outreach and consumer engagement programmes during the three-day exhibition to further reinforce destination awareness and highlight sustainable tourism initiatives. Pakistan remains an important source market for Malaysia, supported by strong visitor growth and improved connectivity through multiple weekly flights linking Kuala Lumpur with Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Tourism Malaysia’s participation at PTM 2026 will be followed by a two-day Islamabad Roadshow scheduled for 7–8 April 2026, continuing efforts to deepen partnerships and promote Malaysia’s diverse tourism experiences to the Pakistani market
