Karachi: Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India following the Pehalgam incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir, the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP) has pledged to ensure uninterrupted availability of critical medical devices and diagnostic supplies during any potential conflict or national emergency.
In a strong statement issued Tuesday, HDAP reaffirmed its commitment to support Pakistan’s healthcare system and armed forces by maintaining essential medical supply chains. The association vowed to work closely with hospitals, healthcare providers, and relevant authorities to safeguard the health and well-being of both civilians and military personnel.
HDAP — the leading representative body of Pakistan’s medical devices and diagnostics industry — emphasized its preference for peace and dialogue. However, it stated that it stands fully prepared to support national defense and emergency medical services if hostilities escalate.
The recent Pehalgam incident has worsened already fragile diplomatic relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, prompting concerns of further escalation.
Medical devices such as ventilators, surgical kits, imaging equipment, and blood analyzers are crucial for emergency care, particularly in conflict zones. HDAP highlighted the importance of uninterrupted access to these tools for operating field hospitals and managing battlefield injuries.
The association noted that its vast network of member companies plays a critical role in manufacturing, importing, and distributing life-saving medical equipment across the country.
“In times of peace, these technologies support everyday healthcare. In times of war, they become frontline tools for doctors and emergency responders,” the statement read.
HDAP assured the public that its teams are on standby to respond swiftly, ensuring hospitals and military medical units remain equipped to handle mass casualties or urgent health needs.
“Our professional and responsible association stands united with the peaceful yet resilient spirit of Pakistan,” the statement concluded.
