HBL PSL 11 Schedule Revised, Matches Limited to Two Cities

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a revised schedule for HBL PSL 11, aligning the tournament with national austerity and resource conservation measures introduced by the government.

Matches Limited to Lahore and Karachi

Under the updated plan, the number of host venues has been reduced from six to two, with all matches now scheduled to take place in Lahore and Karachi.

The tournament will run from March 26 to May 3, featuring 44 matches over 39 days. Both cities will host 22 matches each.

Key Fixtures and Format

The opening match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars will proceed as planned. Lahore will host Eliminator 1, Eliminator 2, and the final, while the Qualifier match will be played in Karachi.

Shift to Enhanced Broadcast Experience

With the tournament adopting a “watch-from-home” model, organisers plan to introduce enhanced broadcast and production features to improve the viewing experience for audiences across Pakistan and globally.

The PCB expressed confidence that innovations in coverage would help maintain fan engagement and potentially make this edition one of the most widely viewed in the league’s history.

Rationale Behind the Decision

Officials noted that hosting matches across multiple cities would have placed considerable strain on national energy resources. Estimates suggested that an average of 30,000 spectators and associated personnel travelling daily over several weeks would significantly increase fuel and utility consumption.

By limiting venues, the PCB aims to reduce logistical demands, including transport, accommodation, and operational overheads associated with a multi-city event.

The PCB reiterated that despite logistical adjustments, HBL PSL remains committed to delivering high-quality cricket while supporting national priorities.

The board added that the league will continue to reflect unity, discipline and excellence, maintaining its status as a key platform in Pakistan’s sporting landscape.
