At least five people were killed and three others sustained injuries after a loess collapse buried a house in Shanxi province in northern China, state media reported on Saturday.

The collapse occurred at 6:49 pm on Friday in Haoyi village, located in Hongtong county, according to local authorities.
The landslide buried a residential property and trapped eight people beneath the debris.
Emergency teams recovered all eight trapped residents during a large-scale rescue operation.
Authorities confirmed that five people died, while three survivors were taken to hospital. Doctors said the injured were in stable condition.
Local authorities deployed more than 550 rescue personnel, including police officers, firefighters and medical workers.
In addition, rescue teams used over 130 pieces of equipment, including loaders, cranes, drones and life-detection devices, to search the debris.
Officials are investigating the cause of the collapse.
