Pakistan’s First Ramadan Night National Tennis Tournament Kicks Off in Karachi

Karachi: The first-ever Ramadan Night National Tennis Tournament in Pakistan has commenced under the auspices of the Pakistan Tennis Federation in collaboration with the Naya Nazimabad Foundation.
The tournament is being held under floodlights at the Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana, marking a new addition to the city’s Ramadan sports calendar.
The event was formally inaugurated by Samad Habib, Chief Executive Officer of Naya Nazimabad, who opened proceedings by striking the ceremonial first ball.
Among those present were Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation; Syed Muhammad Talha, President of Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana; Senior Manager Sports Muhammad Asif; Tournament Director Khalid Rahmani; Manager Altaf Hussain; District Sports Officer Hajra Nawab; along with players and spectators.
Speaking at the ceremony, Samad Habib said that following successful cricket and football tournaments, Naya Nazimabad had expanded its sporting calendar by introducing the Ramadan Night Tennis Tournament. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting sports as a means of fostering a healthy society and expressed hope that such events would help identify emerging talent.
Aisam-ul-Haq described the tournament as a significant step for tennis in Pakistan, noting that the week-long event during Ramadan would provide competitive opportunities for players. He encouraged Karachi’s residents to attend and support the matches.
Syed Muhammad Talha announced that the total prize money for the tournament has been set at Rs2.05 million. He expressed optimism that players from across the country would benefit from participating in the competition.
