Karachi: A Defence Day (Youm-e-Shuhada) program under the Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative was held on September 6, 2024, at Happy Palace School on Rashid Minhas Road, Karachi. The event was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions Sindh. Mr. Zahid Ali Abbasi, Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, was the chief guest, while Mufti Muhammad Zubair, a member of the Islamic Ideological Council, served as the guest of honor. Other notable attendees included Mr. Sajjad Tanoli, Organizer of Paigham-e-Pakistan Sindh Chapter, Mrs. Rafia Javed, Additional Director, Mr. Muhammad Afzal, Director General, and Mr. Akhlaq Ahmed, Monitoring Officer, among others.

Emphasis on Unity and Sacrifice
In his address, Mr. Zahid Ali Abbasi highlighted the importance of safeguarding and developing the nation, reminding the audience of the countless sacrifices made for Pakistan’s independence. He urged everyone to take responsibility for the country’s security, progress, and unity. He encouraged students to work diligently for national development, emphasizing that the martyrs of Pakistan are a source of pride for their selfless sacrifices.
Mufti Muhammad Zubair, in his speech, stressed the need to look beyond political, religious, and sectarian divisions. He reminded everyone that the authority to administer justice lies solely with the courts. He also acknowledged the vital role of the Pakistan Army in protecting the nation’s borders, allowing citizens to live in peace.

Tribute to Pakistan Army and Education’s Role in Nation-Building
Mrs. Rafia Javed highlighted the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and called upon teachers and students to actively contribute to national unity and prosperity. She expressed gratitude to Mr. Asif Khan, Chairman of the Happy Palace Group, Mr. Ather Khan, Executive Director, and Mrs. Maliha Khan, Director, for their efforts in organizing a well-disciplined and patriotic program.
The schoolchildren performed tableaus and delivered speeches in observance of Defence Day, showcasing patriotism and the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army. Barrister Ather Khan selected a special “Mili Nagma” (patriotic song) for the occasion, while Madam Maliha Khan praised the students’ efforts to promote peace and harmony through education and skill development.
Commitment to Nation-Building
Mr. Asif Khan emphasized the school’s commitment to preparing a new generation of students who will stand against evil and corruption in all fields. He reiterated the school’s focus on fostering patriotism and equipping students with the skills needed to contribute positively to society.
This Defence Day event at Happy Palace School was a tribute to the nation’s martyrs and a call to action for future generations to uphold the values of unity, peace, and progress.
