Atiqa Odho Opens Up About Third Marriage While Praising Emotional Drama Kafeel

Veteran Pakistani actor Atiqa Odho became emotional while discussing the hit drama serial Kafeel, revealing that the show’s touching mother-son relationship closely reflected her own personal life experience.

Speaking on the television review show Kya Drama Hai alongside fellow actors Marina Khan and Nadia Khan, Odho praised Kafeel for its realistic portrayal of broken families, abusive marriages and the emotional impact such relationships have on children.

Host Mukarram Kaleem asked the panelists for their thoughts on the drama’s final episode, which has been widely appreciated by viewers for its emotional storytelling and strong social messaging.

Odho said the storyline itself was predictable, but the drama stood out because of the way it was executed.

“I felt that there was a very predictable story, but told well,” she said, adding that Pakistani dramas rarely leave audiences guessing about plot twists compared to international productions.

Despite that, she praised the show’s positive conclusion and the way every storyline was tied together thoughtfully.

The actor particularly appreciated how the drama highlighted the emotional connection between characters Subuk and Zeba, describing the mother-son bond shown in the serial as deeply realistic.

“They’ve shown such a strong mother-son bond, which is accurate too. Boys are always on their mother’s side,” she remarked.

Odho shared that, in her own experience, sons often become emotionally protective of their mothers, especially during difficult phases in life.

She added that one of the most powerful aspects of Kafeel was how the children collectively wanted to give their mother another chance at happiness after witnessing her suffering and emotional abuse.

“They looked at her as a human being, not just as a woman or a mother,” she said.

During the discussion, Odho revealed that the drama resonated deeply with her because she had personally lived through a similar experience following her divorce.

The actor shared that it was actually her son who encouraged her to marry her current husband, Samar Ali Khan.

“It was my son who came to me and said I should get married for a third time,” she recalled.

Odho admitted she initially hesitated due to societal pressure and concerns about how people would react to a third marriage.

She also revealed that even her mother was worried about public criticism and possible gossip surrounding the decision.

However, according to Odho, her son stood firmly by her side and even assured her that he would personally convince his sisters to support the marriage.

Her candid remarks drew praise online, with many viewers appreciating her honesty about remarriage, family support and the emotional realities women face after divorce in Pakistani society.

Kafeel has received widespread acclaim for addressing sensitive social issues, including toxic marriages, emotional trauma and family healing, while presenting a message of resilience, empathy and second chances.
