Apple Price Hike: MacBook and iPad Prices Rise Amid Chip Costs

Apple Price Hike: Apple has raised the prices of several MacBook, iPad and other products worldwide, citing higher semiconductor production costs as demand for advanced chips continues to grow.

The company said rising manufacturing expenses, particularly for semiconductors, had made the price adjustments necessary. The increases affect multiple devices across Apple’s product lineup.

The MacBook Air now starts at $1,299, an increase of $200, while the MacBook Pro now starts at $1,999, up by $300.

Industry analysts in Pakistan say the global price increases, combined with exchange rates, import duties and other costs, could raise local retail prices by as much as Rs84,000 for some models.

Experts attribute the higher production costs to growing global demand for semiconductors, particularly from the artificial intelligence sector, as well as increased chip packaging expenses.

Apple has also increased the prices of its tablet range. The iPad Air now starts at $749, reflecting a $150 increase, while the iPad Pro is now priced at $1,199, up by $200.

The entry-level MacBook Neo has also become more expensive, rising by $100 to $699.

The company’s desktop computers and accessories have also been affected. The iMac now starts at $1,499, while the Mac mini (M4 Pro) is priced at $1,599.

Among Apple’s premium desktop systems, the Mac Studio (M4 Max) now costs $2,499, while the Mac Studio (M3 Ultra) has increased to $5,299, marking some of the largest price rises in the lineup.

Several consumer devices have also become more expensive. The Apple Vision Pro now costs $3,699, up by $200. The HomePod mini has increased to $129, the HomePod now sells for $349, and the Apple TV has risen to $199 after a $70 price increase.

The latest adjustments reflect the continued impact of rising semiconductor costs on the global technology industry and may result in higher prices for consumers in markets that rely heavily on imported electronics, including Pakistan.
