Karachi: The ninth Annual Microfinance Conference (AMC-9) will be held in Karachi from October 7 to 9 under the theme “Renaissance of Microfinance”. The event, jointly organized by the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) and UNIDO-PAIDAR, will bring together policymakers, regulators, development partners, and innovators to chart pathways for revitalizing Pakistan’s microfinance sector.

Senior representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and key industry stakeholders are expected to participate. The conference will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking opportunities focused on innovation, risk, outreach, and inclusive growth.

PMN Chairman Amir Khan and UNIDO Representative Ahsan Gaylani said AMC-9 would serve as a national platform to reflect on the sector’s achievements and reimagine its role in driving economic transformation, social justice, and sustainable development.

Key focus areas will include agriculture and rural finance, climate risk adaptation, women’s financial inclusion, blended finance for SMEs and rural enterprises, fintech integration, and inclusive insurance. Discussions will explore digitally enabled and resilient strategies to rejuvenate microfinance, while presenting policy recommendations to regulators and government institutions.

The event also aims to strengthen partnerships among microfinance providers, commercial banks, fintechs, and development organisations to scale impactful solutions across the sector.

The curtain-raiser was attended by leading sponsors including Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company (PMIC), ASA-P Microfinance Bank, HBL Microfinance Bank, along with PMN’s management.
