Imran Khan Halts Talks with Government Over Delay in Judicial Commissions

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has called off negotiations with the government due to its failure to form judicial commissions within the promised seven-day timeframe. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed the decision after meeting Khan in prison, stating that the government’s inaction on the formation of commissions related to the May 9 and November 26 incidents led to the halt in talks.

Failed Government Commitment
Barrister Gohar emphasized that the government had committed to forming a judicial commission within seven days but failed to deliver on this promise. “The PTI founder decided to end the talks because the government has not followed through with its commitment to form the commissions,” Gohar said. He reiterated that negotiations could not move forward without the formation of the judicial commissions.

Ongoing Negotiation Stalemate
Despite weeks of negotiations, major issues such as the formation of judicial commissions and the release of PTI prisoners have seen little progress. Following two rounds of meetings, the third round, held on January 16, saw PTI submit its demands in writing, but key concerns remain unresolved.

Government’s Response
Meanwhile, Rana Sanaullah, an adviser to the prime minister, assured that the government’s negotiating team would soon respond in writing to PTI’s demands. Opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan also warned that without concrete steps on the formation of the commissions, further negotiations would be pointless.

PTI’s Future Actions
Gohar Ali Khan stated that Imran Khan remains committed to the constitutional and legal struggle and will continue to collaborate with other opposition parties. “We will join forces with various opposition parties and continue our struggle together,” he said.
