Toronto: Member of Parliament Anita Anand has actively taken up the cause of the Pakistani community’s demand for an upgraded visa processing center in Islamabad. Community activist Fahad Iqbal, President of AMPAK Toronto, first highlighted the lack of progress since raising the issue in February 2024.
During an immigration meeting on February 7, 2024, MP Shafqat Ali urged Canadian Federal Immigration Minister Marc Miller to improve the Islamabad center. Miller initially promised to appoint seven officials by summer 2024. However, after seeing no updates, Iqbal reached out to MP Anand, who then quickly intervened.
Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board of Canada, immediately contacted Minister Miller. He confirmed that the upgrade is indeed underway and asked the Immigration Department for an update to ensure its timely completion. Moreover, Anand reassured the Pakistani community of her commitment to this issue and thanked Iqbal for raising it.
Overall, this development brings new hope to the Pakistani community, which has struggled with visa processing for years. With Anand’s involvement, the community now expects significant progress on the Islamabad center, leading to better services and stronger ties between Canada and Pakistan.
