KUALA LUMPUR: The MIHAS Awards 2026 concluded at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), recognising 13 businesses for excellence, innovation, sustainability and digitalisation across the global halal ecosystem.
The awards were presented as part of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026, with this year’s edition placing greater emphasis on future-ready business practices, emerging technologies, digital transformation and inclusive growth.
A total of 13 awards were presented across the Excellence Awards, Innovation, Sustainability & Digitalisation Awards and the newly introduced Women in Export (WiEX) Awards.
The WiEX category was introduced for the first time this year to recognise women-led businesses across the Excellence and Innovation, Sustainability & Digitalisation categories. The initiative reflects MIHAS’s focus on increasing inclusivity and recognising the contribution of women entrepreneurs to the international growth of the halal economy.
The awards also recognised businesses using digital solutions and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve products and services, strengthen operations, expand market reach and develop new sources of value.
Eligible Malaysian and international exhibitors participating in MIHAS 2026 underwent a structured evaluation process that included pre-assessment and pitching sessions before an independent judging panel. Applicants presented their achievements, innovation strategies, sustainability initiatives and use of digital technologies.
An independent external auditor was also appointed to observe and validate the evaluation process, with organisers highlighting transparency and credibility as key elements of the awards.
Chairman of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, said the awards had evolved alongside changing priorities in the global halal industry.
He said the focus was no longer limited to recognising current achievements, but also included capabilities that could shape the future of the sector.
“The winners recognised today have demonstrated the resilience, creativity and forward-thinking capabilities needed to navigate a rapidly changing global marketplace,” he said.
MATRADE Chief Executive Officer YBhg. Dato’ Indera Abu Bakar Yusof said the quality and diversity of entries reflected the growing sophistication of businesses operating across the halal ecosystem.
He said sustainability, digitalisation and emerging technologies were increasingly becoming important components of competitiveness and long-term business growth.
The MIHAS Awards will continue to evolve by recognising measurable impact, technological adoption, responsible growth, innovation and international market potential, according to the organisers.
The 2026 recipients were recognised across five award categories.
