World Maritime Day 2026 was commemorated at the Pakistan Marine Academy in Karachi under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Government of Pakistan, in line with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) theme, “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.”
The programme was sponsored by Global Radiance Group of Companies and brought together maritime professionals, policymakers and industry stakeholders to discuss key issues affecting Pakistan’s maritime sector.
Former ambassador and former president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan, attended the event as chief guest.
The programme featured a panel discussion and technical presentations addressing challenges and developments shaping Pakistan’s maritime industry.
Participants highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration among government institutions, maritime professionals and industry stakeholders to improve the sector’s performance and resilience.

The discussions also focused on effective policy implementation and capacity-building as important elements in developing a safer, more resilient and sustainable maritime industry.
The event concluded with an emphasis on translating maritime policies into practical measures and strengthening coordination among stakeholders to support the long-term development of Pakistan’s maritime sector.
