ETS, the global education and talent solutions organisation behind the TOEFL iBT test, hosted its first official in-person TOEFL Experience Day in Pakistan, bringing together members of the country’s English-language training and education community.
Held in Lahore on September 17, the programme attracted 140 participants, including English-language trainers, TOEFL preparation professionals, counsellors, educators and channel partners.
Led by ETS experts and senior members of its South Asia team, the programme introduced participants to the four strategic pillars of the TOEFL iBT test — Fair, Agile, Smart and Tailored (FAST).
The sessions also focused on the four skills assessed by the TOEFL iBT test: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Participants received guidance on the enhanced test format, delivery and assessment approach, along with opportunities to address questions related to test preparation.

According to ETS, the programme was designed to help trainers and counsellors align their preparation methods more closely with the current TOEFL iBT format and provide students with more structured support.
Participants were also provided with official TOEFL preparation and classroom-support materials, including the TOEFL Overview Booklet, lesson plans, a study planner, access to TOEFL Practice Online and the pocket edition of the TOEFL Guide.
ETS said Pakistan remains an important outbound education market, citing continued interest in international higher education and demand for English-language proficiency certification. The organisation currently has 10 TOEFL test centres in Pakistan and offers the TOEFL iBT Home Edition to eligible test takers beyond major cities.
The organisation also works with 100 channel partners in Pakistan to increase awareness through student sessions, seminars and local engagement, according to the press release.
Speaking at the event, Karan Lalit, Executive Director, South Asia, TOEFL and GRE, ETS, said trainers and counsellors play an important role in helping students prepare for international education opportunities.
“Through the TOEFL Experience Day in Lahore, we brought official test information and ETS’s assessment expertise directly to those who guide students every day,” Lalit said. He added that strengthening their understanding of the enhanced TOEFL iBT test could support more informed preparation and help students explore international education opportunities.
ETS said the Lahore event reflects its continued engagement with Pakistan’s trainer and education community. The organisation said it aims to strengthen student support by providing educators with direct access to official test information, technical guidance and preparation resources.
The TOEFL iBT test measures academic English proficiency across Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. According to ETS, its scores are accepted by more than 13,000 institutions in over 160 countries.
