Pakistan and Iraq have agreed to further strengthen their longstanding bilateral ties by expanding educational, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Iraqi Acting Consul General Abul Hakam Adnan Sadiq met Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi at Governor House in Karachi on September 23. During the meeting, the Iraqi diplomat also offered condolences over the death of the governor’s father-in-law and prayed for the departed soul, as well as for patience and strength for the bereaved family.
The two sides discussed Pakistan-Iraq relations, educational and cultural cooperation, exchanges of delegations and students, and other matters of mutual interest.
Governor Sindh said Pakistan and Iraq enjoy historic and fraternal relations, with the two countries sharing close religious and cultural values.

He stressed the importance of expanding educational and cultural cooperation, saying exchanges of students and delegations could give young people from both countries greater opportunities to learn about each other’s history, traditions and culture.
The governor said such initiatives could also contribute to greater mutual understanding and closer people-to-people ties.
Iraq’s Acting Consul General said his country was keen to further strengthen its longstanding fraternal relations with Pakistan. He also highlighted student exchange programmes as an important avenue for promoting mutual understanding and closer contacts between the younger generations of the two countries.
Governor Hashmi thanked the Iraqi diplomat for his condolences and expression of sympathy.
