The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right-handed reliever Edgardo Henriquez on the 15-day injured list Monday because of lower-back discomfort, ending his regular season and creating another challenge for a bullpen already facing uncertainty.
The Dodgers have also been carefully managing the return of three-time All-Star Edwin Diaz, who is recovering from right elbow surgery. His recent minor-league outings have not gone as planned, further complicating Los Angeles’ pitching situation.
Diaz struggled in his latest appearance for Oklahoma City on Sunday, recording just two-thirds of an inning while allowing five runs and three walks. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged that the performance was not strong enough to justify bringing him back to the major-league roster.
Los Angeles has not ruled out the possibility of Henriquez returning during the postseason.
The 24-year-old Henriquez has appeared in 61 games this season, including one start. He has posted a 2.85 ERA with 71 strikeouts and 25 walks over 60 innings, making his absence a significant blow to the Dodgers’ bullpen.

Diaz, meanwhile, has struggled in limited action this season. He has recorded seven saves in 11 opportunities and posted an 11.85 ERA across 16 appearances.
To strengthen the bullpen, Los Angeles recalled right-handed pitchers Paul Gervase and Bobby Miller from Triple-A. The Dodgers also sent Emmet Sheehan to Oklahoma City after he delivered six scoreless innings in a start against the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
Gervase, 26, has a 2.35 ERA in four major-league appearances this season. He owns a career 3.38 ERA with no decisions in 10 relief appearances for the Tampa Bay Rays and Dodgers since 2025.
Miller, 27, has made one major-league appearance in 2026. He earned a win against the Washington Nationals on September 6 after throwing three innings of one-run relief. Across parts of four seasons with Los Angeles, he is 14-8 with a 5.40 ERA in 38 appearances, including 36 starts.
Sheehan, 26, is 5-8 with a 4.79 ERA in 22 starts this season. He has a career record of 15-12 with a 4.23 ERA in 50 appearances, including 45 starts, all with Los Angeles.
The Dodgers will now look to manage their pitching depth carefully as they deal with multiple bullpen concerns heading into the final stretch of the season.
