ISLAMABAD: External Financing received by Pakistan exceeded $763 million in July, the first month of the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to official data from the Economic Affairs Division.

Pakistan received $744.6 million in loans and $18.3 million in grants during the month.

The total assistance equals around Rs214.99 billion. Loans accounted for Rs209.88 billion, while grants stood at Rs5.10 billion.

The data showed that Pakistan received around 10% more external assistance in July than during the same month last year.

However, inflows fell sharply compared with June 2026. External assistance dropped 81% from more than $4 billion received in June.

International organisations provided a significant portion of the July inflows. They contributed around $252.8 million during the month.

The World Bank provided $130 million, while the Asian Development Bank extended a $59.1 million loan.

China provided $146.6 million through guaranteed loans during July. Other bilateral partners collectively contributed around $19.6 million.

Pakistan also raised $343.9 million through the Naya Pakistan Certificate during the month.

The figures highlight Pakistan’s continued reliance on external financing to meet its financial requirements during the new fiscal year.
