Ali Şahin, a senior leader of Türkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and chairman of the Türkiye–Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, has extended warm greetings to Pakistanis on the country’s 79th Independence Day.
In a special video message delivered in Urdu, Şahin described August 14 as an important and joyous day for Pakistan and Türkiye.
He noted that the date also marks the anniversary of the founding of Türkiye’s ruling AK Party, giving August 14 additional significance in Türkiye.
Deep Roots of Pakistan-Türkiye Ties
Şahin said relations between Pakistan and Türkiye extend far beyond conventional diplomatic ties.
He highlighted the countries’ shared historical, cultural and religious connections, along with strong emotional bonds between their peoples.

He described the relationship through the expressions “Two States, One Nation” and “Two Hearts, One Soul”, which reflect the close friendship between the two countries.
The Turkish parliamentarian said the bond between the Pakistani and Turkish peoples has developed over more than a century.
Leaders from both countries have repeatedly described Pakistan and Türkiye as brotherly nations, reinforcing the longstanding warmth and solidarity between them.
Şahin Highlights Personal Connection
Şahin has consistently advocated stronger Türkiye–Pakistan relations.
Having studied in Pakistan, he has described the relationship between the two countries as a distinctive bond that goes beyond traditional diplomacy.
He has also regularly shared messages with the Pakistani people on August 14.
This year, his Urdu-language message again emphasised the enduring friendship, mutual affection and people-to-people connections between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Şahin said the relationship reflects an extraordinary public connection in which people from both countries view each other as brothers rather than simply diplomatic partners.
He concluded his message with wishes for the continued strength of Pakistan–Türkiye friendship.
