According to official data, overseas investors invested $34.4 million in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) during July. The performance marked a sharp turnaround from June, when foreign investors sold shares worth $180 million and withdrew funds from the market.
Moreover, the latest figures showed that foreign investors became net buyers for the first time in almost 23 months. The banking and exploration sectors attracted the largest share of overseas investment during the month.
Foreign investors purchased $13.8 million worth of banking stocks. They also invested $6.7 million in exploration companies, reflecting growing interest in Pakistan’s financial and energy sectors.
However, overseas investors reduced their exposure to the cement sector. The data showed they remained net sellers of cement shares during July.
The latest inflows suggest improving investor sentiment toward Pakistan’s equity market. Market analysts say sustained foreign investment could strengthen liquidity and support broader market confidence in the months ahead.
