Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, vowed on Saturday to avenge his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He said the nation demanded justice.
He released the written message on his official Telegram account.
The statement coincided with funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. US-Israeli airstrikes killed the former supreme leader on February 28.
Mojtaba Khamenei said Iran remained committed to responding to his father’s death. He described the late leader and others killed in the recent conflicts as martyrs.
“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” Khamenei said.
The statement marked one of his strongest public messages since he assumed Iran’s highest leadership position.
