Rotary District 3271 officially launched its 2026–27 Rotary year on Saturday with the installation of Shahzad Sabir as District Governor during a ceremony at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi. The event brought together more than 1,000 Rotarians, diplomats, business leaders, development professionals and community representatives from Pakistan and abroad.
A key feature of the ceremony was the announcement of the district’s flagship service projects for the new Rotary year. These include the Million Trees Project to support environmental sustainability, the District Medical Outreach Programme to improve healthcare access, expanded Polio Immunization campaigns, the Pink Washrooms initiative to promote menstrual hygiene, Hearing Aid programmes for people with hearing impairments, Breast Cancer Awareness campaigns and the continued expansion of Rotary Pakistan Smart Villages to strengthen education, healthcare, livelihoods, digital connectivity and environmental sustainability.
The ceremony also marked the launch of the commemorative publication, 100 Years of Rotary Service in Pakistan, documenting a century of Rotary’s humanitarian work, leadership and community development across the country. The book was introduced by its anthologist, Syed Kashif Rafi, alongside senior Rotary leaders including Past Rotary International Director Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, Project Patron M. Iqbal Qureshi, Past Trustee Aziz Memon, Immediate Past District Governor Shakeel Kaim Khani and District Governor Shahzad Sabir. A commemorative hardbound edition was presented to Jennifer A. Scott, Rotary International Director for 2025–27.
Rotary District 3271 also unveiled its official website and mobile application, designed to strengthen communication, governance, volunteer engagement and service reporting throughout the district.
Jennifer A. Scott attended the installation as chief guest, while other senior Rotary leaders included Past Trustee Aziz Memon, Past Rotary International Director Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, PDG M. Iqbal Qureshi, Immediate Past District Governor Shakeel Kaim Khani and Vice Governor Dr. Aftab Imam.
Earlier in the day, Assistant Governors, Club Presidents, Secretaries and District Chairs for the 2026–27 Rotary year were formally installed, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to leadership development and humanitarian service.
The newly installed district leadership includes District Governor Elect Ch. Fahad Sikandar, District Governor Nominee Abdul Jabbar Sheikh, District Secretary Arif Siddiqui, District Treasurer Ravi Kumar, District Learning Facilitator Anila Chaudhary, Conference Chair Shahid Ismail, Deputy Governors Pervez Madraswalla, Shoaib Ismail and Imdad Ali Bughio, Additional District Secretary Asif Mukaty, District Joint Secretary Shafqat Ali, District Sergeant-at-Arms Capt. (R) Sajid Mehmood, and Aides to the District Governor Durdaana Arshad, Muhammad Arshad, Jamil Ahmed Khan and Safdar Hussain Arain.
District Governor Shahzad Sabir said Rotary District 3271 will continue expanding sustainable community service through stronger partnerships, volunteer leadership, youth engagement and innovative projects addressing healthcare, education, environmental protection and social development across Sindh and Balochistan.
