Actor and television host Juggun Kazim has criticised tourists for leaving rubbish along the hiking trails between Murree and Nathia Gali, urging visitors to protect the country’s natural environment.
In a video shared on social media, Kazim highlighted plastic bottles, food wrappers and other waste scattered across the trail. She questioned why people complain about Pakistan’s condition while failing to clean up after themselves.
Actor calls for personal responsibility
Kazim said meaningful change cannot happen unless people take responsibility for their own actions.
“We always complain about the condition of our country, but how will anything improve if we don’t even clean up our own trash?” she said.
Moreover, she explained that she rarely uses strong language online. However, she felt the situation required a direct message because of the growing environmental damage.
Links pollution to climate concerns
Kazim also warned that pollution contributes to changing weather patterns.
She pointed to unusual seasonal conditions, including hailstorms during summer and warmer winters, and argued that environmental neglect plays a role in worsening climate challenges.
Furthermore, she reminded followers that people have a duty to protect the natural world.
“We have been blessed with a beautiful universe by Allah. If we fail to care for it, then we cannot blame anyone else for the consequences,” she said.
Appeal to travellers
In the caption accompanying her video, Kazim urged tourists to leave nature as they found it.
“We travel to beautiful places to escape the mess. Let’s not leave our mess behind for someone else to clean up. Take your memories. Take your photographs. Take your garbage too,” she wrote.
