Punjab minister directs authorities to strengthen security, traffic management and public services for Muharram processions and gatherings
Muharram Security arrangements will be strengthened across Punjab after Information and Culture Minister Azma Bukhari directed authorities to implement a comprehensive plan for the peaceful observance of religious events.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Faisalabad on Saturday, Azma Bukhari reviewed preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram. Officials discussed security measures, law and order plans, traffic management and public facilitation initiatives.
Azma Bukhari instructed all relevant departments to ensure strict security at every majlis and procession route. She said authorities must take every possible step to prevent any untoward incident during Muharram.
The minister urged administrative bodies and law-enforcement agencies to maintain close coordination. She said effective cooperation would help preserve peace and ensure public safety throughout the month.
Azma Bukhari said the Punjab government places the highest priority on the protection of mourners and participants. She added that the government remains committed to providing a secure environment for religious observances.
She also stressed the importance of strong communication among institutions. According to the minister, timely information-sharing will enable authorities to respond quickly to any emerging situation.
With temperatures expected to remain high, Azma Bukhari announced special public facilitation measures for Ashura. She directed officials to establish water distribution points outside mosques and other key locations.
The minister said these arrangements would provide relief to worshippers and citizens participating in religious activities during extreme weather conditions.
