Pakistani Celebrities Who Had Surprisingly Different Careers Before Fame

Many professions require years of education and training before entering the field. Doctors study medicine, while engineers train in technical disciplines. Therefore, many people assume actors and singers also study subjects related to entertainment.

However, several Pakistani celebrities followed completely different academic and professional paths before entering showbiz. From lawyers to dentists and financial analysts, many stars built impressive careers outside the entertainment industry.

Ameer Gilani and Mawra Hocane — Lawyers

Celebrity couple Ameer Gilani and Mawra Hocane both studied law before pursuing acting careers.

Mawra Hocane completed her LLB through a University of London affiliated programme in 2018. Meanwhile, Ameer Gilani earned an LLM degree from Harvard Law School.

As a result, the duo could have easily pursued successful legal careers alongside their acting success.

Tabish Hashmi — Supply Chain Professional

Before becoming a popular comedian and television host, Tabish Hashmi worked in supply chain management.

In addition, he studied electrical engineering and later completed an MBA from Institute of Business Administration.

Before joining Geo TV, he served as head of operations at logistics company TCS.

Aymen Saleem — Financial Analyst

Before entering the entertainment industry, Aymen Saleem worked in finance and consulting.

She graduated from the Wharton School and also interned at JPMorgan early in her career.

Later, she worked at McKinsey & Company before moving into acting.

In 2021, she announced a temporary break from showbiz.

Hasan Raheem — Dentist

Singer Hasan Raheem pursued dentistry before focusing on music full-time.

He studied at Bahria University Medical and Dental College in Karachi.

Although fans know him for his music, he also holds professional dental qualifications.

Momina Mustehsan — Engineer and Mathematician

Momina Mustehsan may be famous for her singing career, but she also has an impressive academic background.

She earned double degrees in biomedical engineering and applied mathematics and statistics from Stony Brook University.

Furthermore, her university honoured her in 2018 as one of its 40 most influential alumni under the age of 40.

Pakistani Stars Continue to Inspire Beyond Entertainment

These celebrities prove that success in entertainment does not always follow a traditional path. Instead, many of Pakistan’s biggest stars built strong educational and professional foundations before stepping into the spotlight.
