Islamabad: The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Islamabad organized a major business forum to enhance trade and investment between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The event brought together top Pakistani entrepreneurs and industry leaders, including FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and RCCI President Usman Shaukat.

Uzbek Ambassador Calls for Deeper Economic Partnership
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, opened the forum by emphasizing the historical, cultural, and strategic importance of bilateral relations. He described the gathering as a “meeting of hearts and hopes,” encouraging stronger business-to-business cooperation.

Uzbekistan Open for Business under Economic Reforms
Highlighting reforms under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Ambassador said Uzbekistan is more open than ever to global investment. He invited Pakistani businesses to explore opportunities in agriculture, energy, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and logistics.

Trade Turnover Target: $2 Billion
Currently, trade between the two countries stands at $400 million. Ambassador Tukhtaev believes this figure can be increased fivefold through joint ventures and strategic collaboration.

New Islamabad–Tashkent Flight Announced
To boost connectivity, the Ambassador announced a new direct flight from Islamabad to Tashkent by Uzbekistan Airways starting June 14, alongside existing Lahore flights. He also encouraged Pakistani airlines to begin services to Uzbekistan.

Pakistani Business Leaders Back Stronger Ties
FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh reaffirmed Pakistan’s interest in expanding trade with Central Asia and stressed the need for more B2B interaction. RCCI President Usman Shaukat echoed this, announcing a June–July business delegation to Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan Offers Investor-Friendly Environment
Trade Counselor Bahrom Yusupov gave a detailed presentation on Uzbekistan’s economic liberalization, Free Economic Zones (FEZs), and attractive incentives for foreign investors. He identified agriculture, energy, and tourism as high-potential sectors.

Forum Ends with Interactive Q&A Session
Participants engaged in a Q&A on investment, legal frameworks, customs, and financing. Many praised the forum as a timely initiative and expressed intentions to explore business opportunities in Uzbekistan.

A New Chapter in Economic Cooperation
“This forum must not end with speeches – it must begin a journey,” concluded Ambassador Tukhtaev, assuring continued support and partnership between the two nations.
