Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized the significant potential in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries during the inauguration of the Livestock Expo 2025. He highlighted how these sectors can drive growth and innovation in the province’s economy.

The three-day Livestock Expo 2025, scheduled from Jan 17 to 19, is organized by the Livestock & Fisheries Department, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Culture, Tourism & Antiquities Department, KMC, and the Commissioner of Karachi. The event also witnessed participation from Minister for Livestock & Fisheries Mohammad Ali Malkani, Minister of Culture Zulfiqar Shah, Balochistan provincial ministers, MPAs, diplomats, and other officials.

Economic Potential of Agriculture and Livestock Sectors

During his address, Chief Minister Murad Shah stressed the vital role of the livestock sector in boosting Sindh’s economy and enhancing food security. He urged private sector investment in these areas, citing their immense potential for growth and significant returns, which can benefit the national economy.

Shah also emphasized the importance of increasing exports to strengthen Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves. “Collaboration is key to improving food security and promoting exports. This will be crucial for our economic stability,” he said.

Future of Livestock and Agriculture in Sindh

The Chief Minister shared his government’s vision for the sector, which includes improving infrastructure, animal health, farming practices, and yields. His administration aims to empower rural communities, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and promote sustainable growth in agriculture and livestock.

“Our goal is to create an ecosystem where farmers, investors, and businesses work together for a prosperous future for Sindh,” Murad Shah remarked.

Addressing Challenges and Driving Innovation

Despite the sector’s potential, the Chief Minister acknowledged ongoing challenges, including limited resources, outdated practices, and lack of access to modern technology. However, the Sindh Government, in partnership with international businesses and institutions, is focused on overcoming these barriers. He proudly noted that local production of vaccines has started, reducing the reliance on imports.

Collective Effort for National Progress

Murad Ali Shah also addressed Pakistan’s current economic difficulties, urging a unified approach to overcome challenges posed by IMF programs. “If we work together, we can overcome economic obstacles. Our collective goal must be Pakistan’s progress,” he stated.

Encouraging Collaboration in Livestock Sector

The Chief Minister called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the livestock sector, emphasizing the need to unlock its full potential for the prosperity of both the province and the country.
