Shehbaz Sharif congratulates PPP on victory in Gilgit Baltistan polls

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Pakistan Peoples Party leadership, including Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on their party’s reported success in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.

In a statement, the prime minister said that the Pakistan Peoples Party emerged as a leading political force in the region’s elections and deserved appreciation for its performance.

He also extended congratulations to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidates, acknowledging their strong participation and competitive performance in the electoral process. He added that all successful candidates in Gilgit-Baltistan also deserved recognition for their victories.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their active participation in the political process, stating that their engagement reflected democratic values and strengthened the electoral system.

He further appreciated the Election Commission for ensuring transparent and impartial elections, calling its role commendable. He also lauded the efforts of law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace and security during the polling process.

The prime minister said that peaceful and transparent elections represent the true spirit of democracy and reaffirmed the importance of fair political competition in strengthening democratic institutions in Pakistan.
