In a first-of-its-kind move, fitness chain GymNation in Saudi Arabia has announced plans to launch the world’s first protein sheesha bar.
The concept will debut as part of new café-style recovery zones at select GymNation locations across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain throughout 2026.
Unlike traditional sheesha, the new offering will be completely tobacco- and nicotine-free. Instead, it uses a herbal, molasses-based mixture infused with fitness supplements such as whey protein, creatine, BCAAs, and pre-workout blends.
According to GymNation, the idea is to merge two major lifestyle trends in the region, gym culture and sheesha culture, while maintaining a health-conscious approach.
“This concept brings those two worlds together in a way that aligns with our values; no tobacco, no nicotine, and no compromise on the gym environment,” said Chief Marketing Officer Rory McEntee
The protein sheesha lounges will be integrated within or adjacent to gym facilities, serving as post-workout relaxation spaces where members can unwind, socialize, and recover without leaving the premises.
GymNation says the experience is designed to go beyond just leisure. Each 45-minute session is claimed to deliver up to 25 grams of “aroma-activated protein,” potentially aiding muscle recovery and stimulating protein synthesis. The company also claims the concept can boost post-workout social interaction among members.
The menu will feature creatively branded flavors such as “The Whey Cloud,” “Macro Mist,” and “BCAA Breeze,” all developed using food-grade aroma profiles inspired by sports nutrition.
