PSX Turns Volatile as KSE-100 Swings Between Gains and Losses

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a volatile session on Wednesday.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index opened higher and initially showed signs of recovery. It climbed to an intraday high of 173,174.48 points.

The gains later faded as the index moved into negative territory.

KSE-100 Swings During Trading

The KSE-100 Index fell to 172,599.30 points during the session.

That represented a decline of 42.86 points, or 0.02%, from the previous close of 172,642.16 points.

The index later recovered. It gained around 154 points from its earlier level to reach 172,796.56 points.

The movement highlighted continued volatility in the market.

Regional tensions involving the United States and Iran also remained a key factor for investor sentiment.

PSX Closed Lower on Tuesday

The KSE-100 Index had recorded a sharp decline in the previous session.

On Tuesday, the index fell 993.92 points, or 0.57%.

It closed at 172,642.16 points, compared with 173,636.08 points in the previous session.

Trading activity increased during Tuesday’s session.

The ready market recorded a volume of 722.624 million shares. This compared with 679.188 million shares in the previous session.

The traded value also increased to Rs27.942 billion from Rs23.692 billion.

Market Capitalisation Declines

Market capitalisation also declined during Tuesday’s trading session.

It fell to Rs19.295 trillion from Rs19.434 trillion recorded a day earlier.

The latest movements show continued caution among investors as markets respond to regional developments and broader economic concerns.
