PSG Clinch Fifth Straight Ligue 1 Title With Victory Over Lens

Paris Saint-Germain secured their fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title after beating RC Lens 2-0 on Wednesday.

The victory gave PSG an unassailable nine-point lead at the top of the table with only one match remaining in the season.

Kvaratskhelia Leads PSG to Another Title

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark with his 19th goal of the season.

Later in the match, substitute Ibrahim Mbaye added a second goal to seal the win.

As a result, PSG officially claimed another French league title under manager Luis Enrique.

Luis Enrique Praises Team Mentality

After the match, Luis Enrique praised his players for showing strong defensive discipline.

He said the team spent more time defending than usual but still displayed the mentality needed to win trophies.

Furthermore, the Spanish coach described this title as the hardest league triumph during his time at the club.

He also praised Lens for pushing PSG throughout the campaign.

PSG Continue Domestic Dominance

PSG have now won a record 14 French league titles overall.

Moreover, the club has captured 12 league crowns in the last 14 years since Qatari ownership transformed the team.

Their current run of five straight Ligue 1 titles marks the longest streak since Olympique Lyonnais won seven consecutive championships between 2002 and 2008.

More Silverware Still Possible

PSG have already lifted the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and French Champions Trophy this season.

In addition, the club will face Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest on May 30.

If PSG win the final, they will become only the second modern-era club to secure back-to-back European Cup titles.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele said the team remains focused on preparing for the final despite celebrating the league title.

Lens Secure Champions League Spot

Despite the defeat, Lens secured second place in Ligue 1 and qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League league phase.

The club will also face Nice in the French Cup final on May 22.

Elsewhere, Strasbourg defeated Brest 2-1.

However, Strasbourg cannot finish higher than eighth and will miss out on European qualification next season.
