Polymarket plans legal action after France blocked access to its platform.
Polymarket has announced it will challenge France’s decision to block access to its website, saying it will contest the move through the country’s legal system. The prediction markets platform described the action by French authorities as disappointing and pledged to defend its operations.

France’s National Gambling Authority (ANJ) blocked the platform last week. The regulator said users could face significant gambling losses. It also warned that some prediction markets might be vulnerable to manipulation.
In a statement, Polymarket said it was disappointed by the regulator’s decision. The company added that it intends to challenge the website ban through legal proceedings in France.
Prediction markets allow users to place wagers on the outcomes of real-world events. The sector has expanded rapidly in recent years and is now facing tighter oversight from regulators across several countries.
Earlier this year, Spain temporarily banned both Polymarket and rival platform Kalshi from operating in the country. Meanwhile, the U.S. derivatives regulator published draft rules in June aimed at strengthening oversight of the prediction markets industry.
The latest action by French authorities adds to the growing regulatory pressure on companies operating in the prediction markets sector.
