Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Pakistan’s Independence Day, paid a special visit to the under-construction Technology Park in Islamabad, expressing serious concern over the slow progress and instructing authorities to expedite work.

The Prime Minister’s Office said this was his third inspection of the project, which was originally due for completion by March 23, 2025, but has faced significant delays. Sharif reprimanded on-site officials, stressing strict adherence to international quality benchmarks and urging them to double their efforts to meet the revised timeline.

“Ensure world-class facilities and complete the project without further delay,” the Prime Minister directed.

The IT Park will feature two underground floors, a ground floor, and nine upper levels, housing modern office spaces, an incubation center, R&D labs, a Level III data center, a business support center, auditorium, and parking for 1,200 vehicles. The initiative aims to create youth employment, accelerate economic growth, and position Pakistan as a global IT hub.

Highlighting the lack of progress during the previous government’s tenure, the Prime Minister said his administration had prioritized the project soon after taking office.

He was accompanied by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima, and senior officials.
