KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah celebrated the outstanding achievements of Javelin thrower and Olympian Champion Arshad Nadeem at the CM House, emphasizing the need for Pakistan to secure more gold medals to inspire the nation.

National Pride and Aspirations

During the event, CM Murad Shah highlighted the potential of Pakistan’s 240 million population, urging the nation to aim for at least 24 gold medals globally. “Arshad Nadeem is our national pride,” stated the CM. “You [Arshad Nadeem] have made history and serve as a role model for the youth of our country. Your victory on the international stage proves that determination can overcome all obstacles.”

Warm Welcome at CM House

Arshad Nadeem arrived at the CM House accompanied by Minister for Planning & Development Nasir Shah while the provincial cabinet session was in progress. The CM temporarily paused the session to personally welcome the Gold Medallist. The CM, along with cabinet members, applauded Nadeem’s record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters, a remarkable achievement that inspired people worldwide.

Memorable Achievement Celebrated

CM Shah recounted watching Arshad Nadeem’s historic win with the nation. “It was a night to remember,” he shared. “We couldn’t stop discussing your incredible performance with friends and family.”

Arshad Nadeem’s Gratitude

Arshad Nadeem expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for his unwavering support and encouragement. He highlighted how the congratulatory phone call from CM Sindh after his victory at Parishad motivated him to strive for even greater accomplishments.

Olympic Gold Medal Display

During the meeting, Arshad Nadeem proudly showcased his Olympic Gold Medal, igniting a strong sense of national pride in the room. Cabinet members enthusiastically applauded and congratulated Nadeem on his success.

Awards and Recognition

In recognition of Arshad Nadeem’s extraordinary achievements, CM Murad Ali Shah awarded him Rs50 million and traditional Sindhi gifts, including an Ajrak, cap, and khes. Minister Nasir Shah gifted a car to Nadeem’s mother, appreciating her role in raising such a talented son. Additionally, Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon committed to providing a premium number plate for the car.

Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani announced that an important road in Karachi would be named after Arshad Nadeem, in recognition of his contributions to the nation. Minister for Sports Sardar Mohammad Bux Maher also presented Nadeem with a cheque, both from his department and his funds.

Future of Sports in Pakistan

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab previously announced the establishment of a sports academy in honor of Arshad Nadeem.

CM Murad Ali Shah reaffirmed his commitment to supporting sports in Pakistan, telling Nadeem, “You are only a phone call away. Whenever you need anything or have suggestions for promoting sports in the province, I am here to help.”

Arshad Nadeem thanked the Chief Minister for his continuous support, which has been crucial to his success.
