Mir Ali Raza Karachi Court Orders Exhumation of Trader’s Body

Mir Ali Raza‘s body will be exhumed after a judicial magistrate’s court in Karachi East approved a petition filed by his family and ordered the Sindh health secretary to constitute a medical board.

The court issued the order after reserving its verdict and directed the authorities to complete the exhumation process as soon as possible.

Family Raises Questions Over Post-Mortem Report

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that police had no legal grounds to oppose the exhumation because the police surgeon and the Medical Legal Officer (MLO) would supervise the process.

Moreover, the lawyer told the court that the police surgeon had identified serious flaws in the post-mortem report.

He said officials did not conduct X-rays and failed to determine the actual cause of death. He also alleged that the report relied largely on assumptions.

Prosecution Raises No Objection

The court questioned whether it could issue an order without notifying the investigating officer.

However, the state prosecutor informed the court that the prosecution had no objection to the request. He added that the case involved the investigation of a human life.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that notifying the investigating officer would only delay the proceedings.

Medical Board to Oversee Exhumation

After the prosecution formally raised no objection, the court approved the application.

It directed the Sindh health secretary to form a medical board and ensure the exhumation is carried out at the earliest.
