Karachi Launches Faceless E-Challans on Shahrah-e-Faisal, 96 Lane Violation Tickets Issued on Day One

Traffic authorities begin automated enforcement against lane discipline violations, with dozens of public and commercial vehicles fined during the first day of implementation.

KARACHI: The faceless e-challan system for lane violations officially became operational on Shahrah-e-Faisal from June 1, with authorities issuing 96 challans on the very first day of enforcement.

The initiative aims to improve traffic discipline through automated monitoring and digital enforcement, reducing the need for direct interaction between motorists and traffic personnel.

Dozens of Vehicles Penalised

According to the initial enforcement report, challans were issued to vehicles across 11 different categories for violating designated lane rules.

The breakdown of challans includes:

  • Large buses: 2 challans
  • Coasters: 2 challans
  • Double-cabin vehicles: 1 challan
  • Private cars: 9 challans
  • Minibuses: 6 challans
  • Mini trucks: 3 challans
  • Suzuki pickup vehicles: 21 challans

Additional violations were recorded across other vehicle categories, bringing the total number of challans issued on the first day to 96.

Drive to Improve Traffic Flow

Traffic authorities say the faceless challan system is designed to ensure stricter compliance with lane discipline regulations and improve traffic flow on one of Karachi’s busiest corridors.

Officials expect the automated system to enhance transparency in traffic enforcement while encouraging motorists to adhere to designated lanes.
