A severe heatwave in Karachi has reportedly led to the deaths of eight individuals in different parts of the city, according to rescue officials.
Rescue sources said that a body of an unidentified person was recovered near Saima Arabian Villas in Manghopir. In another incident, the body of a man was found near Al Noor Hotel in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
In Defence Phase 8, Khayaban-e-Saif, the body of an unidentified individual was also recovered. Separately, a man who was found in an unwell condition from Boat Basin in Clifton later died during treatment.
Similar incidents were reported in other areas of the city. A person found in critical condition near Liaquatabad No. 10 bridge also succumbed during treatment, while another individual who was taken from the Jamali Bridge area on Super Highway in an unwell state also died at a hospital.
In Surjani Town, Scheme 33, a man who was shifted in a serious condition passed away during medical care. Meanwhile, in Baldia Town near Sparco Road and Tayyaba Masjid, the body of a man was recovered, later identified as 55-year-old Abdul Wadud.
Chhipa welfare officials stated that all the deceased individuals are believed to have died due to the extreme heat conditions prevailing in the city.
Authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures amid the ongoing heatwave, as temperatures continue to remain dangerously high across Karachi.
