Economic Diplomacy Forum: EDF hosts farewell breakfast for Malaysia and Iraq consuls general

Economic Diplomacy Forum hosted a farewell breakfast in Karachi to honour Malaysia’s Consul General Herman Hardynata Ahmad and Iraq’s Consul General Dr. Maher Mjhid Jejan for their diplomatic service and contributions to strengthening Pakistan’s bilateral relations with their respective countries.

The event took place at Beach Luxury Hotel and brought together members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, industrialists and representatives of the corporate sector.

Among the distinguished guests were Japan’s Consul General Hattori Masaru, China’s Acting Consul General Feng Deheng, and Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner Sakib Sadakat.

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Founder President of the Economic Diplomacy Forum (EDF), thanked the diplomatic community for its continued support.

He said the gathering was intentionally kept small to pay tribute to two diplomats whose efforts strengthened friendship, economic cooperation and people-to-people relations between Pakistan, Malaysia and Iraq.

Dr. Afzal also acknowledged both diplomatic missions for supporting EDF’s initiatives to promote dialogue, trade, investment and mutual understanding.

Outgoing envoys reaffirm strong bilateral ties

Malaysia’s Consul General Herman Hardynata Ahmad thanked EDF for the farewell reception and praised the hospitality he received during his tenure in Karachi.

He expressed confidence that cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia would continue to expand in trade, investment, education, tourism and cultural exchanges.

Meanwhile, Iraq’s Consul General Dr. Maher Mjhid Jejan reaffirmed the long-standing brotherly relationship between Iraq and Pakistan.

He highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education and culture while thanking the people of Karachi for their friendship.

KCCI chief highlights business cooperation

Speaking at the event, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Rehan Hanif commended both diplomats for promoting stronger business and economic relations.

He encouraged continued collaboration between the diplomatic community and Pakistan’s private sector to create new trade and investment opportunities.

EDF presents farewell tributes

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Economic Diplomacy Forum presented Shields of Appreciation to both outgoing Consuls General in recognition of their diplomatic services.

The organization also presented traditional Sindhi Ajraks and Caps as symbols of Sindh’s culture and hospitality.
