Celebrating Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day at Aaghosh Old Home

Fariha Aqib Brings Joy To Disabled, Elderly

And Special Women With Heartfelt Activities

Gifts, And A Sense Of Belonging

Staff Reporter

Karachi: Today, I, Fariha Aqib, had the honor of visiting Aaghosh Old Home, a sanctuary for disabled, elderly, and special women. My visit was on behalf of Ruslan M Prokhorov, the Director of Russian Friendship, to celebrate Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day with these remarkable women.

Warm Welcome and Heartfelt Connections

Upon my arrival, I was welcomed with warm smiles and eager eyes. Many of these women have been abandoned by their families, but today, they felt seen, heard, and loved. I spent the day sharing stories, laughter, and even a few tears with them, creating a connection that will stay with me forever.

Honoring the Dedication of Shagufta Saba

I was deeply moved by Shagufta Saba, the president and founder of Aaghosh Old Home, who has devoted her life to caring for these women. Her selflessness and dedication are truly inspiring. The staff, equally passionate and supportive, works tirelessly to ensure the well-being of every resident. Meeting each of them was a pleasure.

A Joyous Independence Day Celebration

We transformed the space with decorations, distributed flags, and shared food, juices, and face painting – activities that brought immense joy to the residents. The day was filled with singing, dancing, and a patriotic bus ride that resonated with the spirit of Independence Day. Thanks to Shagufta Saba’s efforts, we created a memorable celebration for everyone involved.

Spreading Joy and Hope

We also distributed gifts, flags, and badges, and enjoyed a special performance by the residents. The atmosphere was filled with joy, hope, and a sense of belonging. For a brief moment, these women forgot their challenges and felt like they were part of a larger, loving family.

A Visit to Remember

My visit to Aaghosh Old Home was a small gesture of love and care, but it brought immense happiness to these incredible women. As I left, I carried with me the memories of their resilience, strength, and beauty – a testament to their unwavering spirit.
