Amazon raises prices across several hardware products.
The increases affect several Amazon product lines, including Fire TVs, Echo speakers, Kindles and Eero networking devices.
The Echo Dot recorded one of the sharpest increases. Its price rose overnight from $49.99 to $79.99, representing a 60% jump.
Price-tracking data also showed a significant increase compared with the device’s earlier pricing.
Amazon attributed the increases to higher prices for memory and storage components across the consumer electronics industry.
The company said it had absorbed rising costs for as long as possible before adjusting prices across its hardware range.
Amazon also said it expects to offer promotional discounts to customers at various times during the coming year.
Iran Family Crisis: 9 in 10 poll respondents reject marriage and children
The price increases come as the global technology industry faces a shortage of memory chips. Growing demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure has placed additional pressure on memory supplies and prices.
As manufacturers face higher component costs, more technology companies are passing some of those expenses on to consumers.
Apple has also increased prices for some hardware products this year and introduced a device-leasing programme aimed at helping customers spread payments over time.
Industry expectations suggest the global memory shortage could continue through 2027, with prices potentially stabilising in 2028.
The continued pressure on memory and storage costs could therefore keep hardware prices elevated across the consumer electronics market.
